FAQs
Help! I’ve just had a premature baby. What do I need to know?
Visit our Parents Room to find articles on all the info you might need.
How quickly can I receive my preemie/ NICU vests?
Our preemie vests are ready to ship and are usually sent out within 24hrs, Monday to Friday. We offer 48hr or 24hr tracked shipping. This mean you should recieve in 2-4 days.
How quickly can I receive my Adults or Kids items?
We dont keep any stock, we make everything to order just for you. Everything will be made and shipped to you within 30 days.
What size vest should I buy?
Babies come in different shapes, regardless of the weight, but please use the current weight of the baby and buy within this weight category from our shop.
Is a vest appropriate for my baby?
Our vests are designed by a premmie mama and a neonatal nurse to be the perfect first outfit for a baby in a hospital setting. Super soft, with no scratchy, bulky hems or seams, they work for even the teeniest premature babies.
What if my baby has wires/ feeding tubes/CPAP?
Our vests are designed to be wrapped around the baby (like a soft towel) rather than pulled over the head (like a jumper) so they are perfect for babies with wires on their bodies, hands, feet and also babies on breathing or feeding support.
Why dont you keep adults/kids stock so you can post out faster?
We do keep preemie vests made so they are ready to ship immediatly. Environmentally, for the asults and kids range only printing what is ordered is much better so we dont have any waste or items left over which are not as popular as we hoped. Another reason is that we are a tiny brand (run by two mums) and we invest every penny back into growing the brand so we cant afford to keep lots of stock because that ties up our funds, when it might be better spend gifting items to the NICUs.
Do you supply hospitals?
YES! We are an NHS approved supplier. If you work for a neonatal unit and would like to place an order with a NHS bulk discount please email Lorna at lorna@superdinky.com
What is the best gift for a premature baby?
Some neonatal units prefer not to have cuddly toys in the incubator for infection reasons. A SuperDinky vest would be the perfect gift. Ours are made to work with wires and tubes and are neonatal nurse approved. Neonatal units can be an intimidating place. A colourful, beautiful vest will help to soften the clinical environment. You could also add a blanket and NICU milestone cards.
How do you know what you are doing?
SuperDinky is a tiny company co-founded by a neonatal nurse (Beth) who has cared for early or sick babies for 12 years and by a preemie mum (Lorna) who had a baby at 31 weeks and struggled to find clothes for her baby or support and information for herself. Lorna has a background in ethical fashion design and joined Beth to start SuperDinky.
Why are your vests not as cheap as supermarket ones?
All our vests are handmade (by our lovely seamstress Florie) in Nottingham, UK in a tiny studio from 100% organic cotton in tiny batches to make sure they are high quality beautiful clothes which are planet friendly.
Why is an octopus your logo?
Octopus are iconic in NICU wards because tiny babies are often gifted knitted ones so that their fingers grasp the tenticles like an umblical cord, rather than pulling on any of their monitoriung or life support tubes or wires. Our Octopus mascot is called Tom and he is printed inside every tiny vest as a little friend to keep your baby company.
Do you work with hospitals?
Yes, we love to support hopsitals and we gift items whenever we can. Please get in touch if you would like to partner with us.
Is Beth ok?
You may have noticed it is just me, Lorna running SuperDinky at the moment. Beth has been on medical leave from SuperDinky since 2024 after being diagnosed with cancer. Beth spent 12 years working as a neonatal nurse and loved her job taking care of babies and their families. We hope she will be back soon.
